Dear Friends,
Happy holidays!
It has been an exciting few weeks. In November I learned that Private Arrangements, my debut book,
was named one of Publishers Weekly's Best Books of 2008.
More recently, PA has also been nominated by Romantic Times for its Best Historical Debut award.
As if that wasn't exciting enough, my publisher will reissue both my first two books, Private Arrangements and Delicious, with fun
new covers to coincide with the May 19, 2009 release of my third historical romance, Not Quite a Husband.
There is only one way to celebrate such good fortune, by giving away stuff! :-) So this month, there will be not one, but two
prizes to win. Make sure you scroll down for details.
In the meanwhile, did you know that Delicious is a Christmas story? There is even a Yule Ball in the book to prove it.
Order one for the historical romance lover in your life--or for yourself--and see why the Chicago Tribune gushes that it is
"sublime".
And don't forget to pre-order
your copy of Not Quite a Husband to kick off your 2009 summer reading. For a sneak preview, click
here.
I will take part in a Christmas book signing with fellow Austin romance authors Laura Griffin, Jane Myers Perrine, and Tracy Wolff and I will be glad to see you there.

The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran. Set partially in India during the Great Mutiny of 1857, this debut book is the most intense romance I have read in a long, long time. It is dark, powerful, and unforgettable. Meredith Duran is going to be one of the greats in the genre, mark my words.
Lisey's Story by Stephen King. I've never read King's fiction before--understandably, as I can't handle even the mildest of horror. But Lisey's Story is not horror. It is a great love story with supernatural elements that fit beautifully into the themes of trust, love, and, in the end, letting go. King creates a wonderful protagonist in Lisey, who is at once ordinary and extraordinary.
Queen of Dragons by Shana Abe. I don't follow series as a rule--but I do follow Shana Abe's Drakon series. It is rare that a writer combines both mesmerizing story telling with mesmerizing prose. Shana Abe does exactly that in her Drakon books, combining beautiful, precise, yet sweeping world-building with intimate, passionate love stories between equals. I can't get enough of those dragon shapeshifters.
May your shelves always overflow with great books to read. And may your holidays be bright and merry.
Best,
Sherry
