The print version should be available from CreateSpace in a couple of days.<\/p>\n And now, what you came for. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n I really enjoy the color palette. \u00a0Now I should probably add a green dress to Louisa’s wardrobe. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n And since a blog post should be just slightly more substantial than two covers–not that it had ever stopped me from putting up two-cover posts before–I am going to include another snippet from THE BURNING SKY.<\/p>\n Those of you who have heard me give my subtext workshop know that I have always admired \u00a0the way TWILIGHT was packaged. \u00a0Not so much the cover, cuz I am more or less impervious to covers, but the back blurb. \u00a0In particular, this little excerpt:<\/p>\n About three things I was absolutely positive.\u00a0 First, Edward was a vampire.\u00a0 Second, there was a part of him\u2014and I didn\u2019t know how dominant that part might be\u2014that thirsted for my blood.\u00a0 And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n That<\/em> was what got me to open my wallet and buy my copy. \u00a0So for the THE BURNING SKY, I wanted to do the same thing, but I wasn’t sure whether I could dig up such a passage that so succinctly encapsulates the entire romantic conflict.<\/p>\n In the end I copy-and-pasted a bunch of candidates and sent to my editor. \u00a0This is the one she chose. \u00a0Not sure if you will actually see it on the back cover, since the jacket is far from finalized, but at least you can see it here.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery place out there is<\/em> dangerous for you. Have you not realized this yet?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n She wished he wouldn\u2019t speak so quietly and reasonably. \u201cMore dangerous than here? You will lead me to my death.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI will lay down my life for you. Do you know anyone else who will do that?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n I will lay down my life for you.<\/em> The words had a strange effect on her, a pain almost like a wasp sting to the heart. She shut the valise. \u201cCan you promise me I will live? No? I thought not.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This is actually my second favorite among the candidates. Next time I blog, I’ll post my top favorite snippet that would get me<\/em> to open my wallet.<\/p>\n Hmm. For whom the microwave beeps? Ah, it beeps for me.
